Lock & Key

The design is intended to represent the parchment style maps and memoirs of pirate lore — while the color palate and typography are meant to amplify these sentiments, with the red typography and logos to reinforce the varietal wine.

To really get as much into the label as we could, there are added die cuts, textures, and foils, all added into the front and back.

Symbolized in the logo, unlocking the treasure inside every bottle is quite simple—a few quick turns of a corkscrew (the key) should undo the lock (the cork).

This North Coast Meritage is a smooth drinking glass of wine, and I wanted the packaging to have the same look and feel.

The concept is meant to tell a pirates tale, while taking you on a journey — the poem moving from front label, to back label, only to finish on the cork.
