shatter

Shatter is a collaboration Grenache crafted between Trinchero Family Estates and Joel Gott of Joel Gott Wines. Joining forces with fellow winemaker Dave Phinney, of Orin Swift and notably The Prisoner fame, this French varietal quietly crept onto the scene with a 92 point rating. Building off the creative sense that Dave has long used for his packaging, a single front/back label was implemented here. Examining broken shards of glass up-close, a texture was created to draw you in, while the highlights and shadows had you looking closer to see just what it was you were looking at, all while enjoying a glass of this California-French hybrid.

The spacing in the brand mark, with the strong geometric type, allows the name to speak for itself. There’s no filler or fluff. shatter is direct, and delicious.

Once completed, the overall look at feel was something you would be happy to have on your dinner table with friends. It became something of a talking piece. And, a bottle you’d be happy to pick up and pass around.
