October Update

I feel like I need to create some sort of recurring concept that I can blog about here. Whether that's something every couple of weeks, or just once a month —I need something to as an outlet, and something that just keeps this blog active (seeing as I haven't posted on it since January).

For now, I'm going to steal an idea from the always inspiring Kevin Rose, and create a monthly post focused around a few things that I'm currently digging and into.

Logic recently released a truly incredible, and powerful, video for his track 1-800-273-8255 (ft. Alessia Cara and Khalid), and it's one of the more memorable videos I can remember in quite some time. Directed by Andy Hines, the video follows a character played by Coy Stewart, as he deals with himself and those around him accepting his sexuality—and the struggles that some LGBT men and women go through. The video also features Don Cheadle, Nolan Gould, Matthew Modine, and Luis Guzmán. The video clearly deals with the topic of suicide, and having more choices than that. 1-800-273-8255, the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, is the background of this song.

As a big fan of coffee, I've longed for a decent quality instant coffee. If you know me, you know I'm always on the road going or coming from somewhere. I have my backpack on me at all times really. The last month or so, I've fallen in love with Sudden Coffee. What's great, is each shipment contains different blends so you aren't stuck with just one profile. Each capsule is good for a cup of coffee — just pour and add to hot, or cold, water. It's instant, it's simple as that. It comes in at at $20 for 8 cups a month (subscription model). So, it isn't the cheapest coffee out there. But, the quality is fantastic. You are also able to opt out of a month if you don't need a refill just yet.

SNL hit another one out of the park with this video. If you've ever designed anything in your life, especially type driven, this may become one of your favorites real quick. Gosling really sells his acting here too, taking a good sketch and making it great. Definitely hoping this returns down the road with a part two.

2017 wasn't the best year for my San Francisco Giants. In fact, it was almost historically bad. But, it's over. And that's what matters most. Though, in the wake of such a terrible season, we were left with the goodbye from one of the best to ever don the Orange and Black. Matt Cain gave a final tip of the cap, stepped off the mound, and walked off into the sunset, retiring as a Giant — where he spent his entire career.

I've always been a big fan of Cain's, and will be sad to see him go. Though, happy to watch him walk out on his own terms, and happy to watch him retire with the same organization that he was drafted by. In sports today, you rarely get to watch players start and finish with the same team, only wearing one uniform through their career. Blood, sweat, and tears. Three All-Star games, three World Series Championships, and the only Perfect Game in the Giants 134 year history.

Matt Cain, Pitcher, San Francisco Giants. A tip of the cap to you, with a sincere thank you for all of the great games you've allowed me to watch.

That's it for my quick update. I'll be back with more soon. Definitely going to start posting more. Random bits here and there. So, stay tuned, and check back often.
